The Arena stage is located in the Arena building, in the heart of Hakaniemi. The Arena Building, designed by Lars Sonck, is a Helsinki landmark, just like its neighbours Ympyrätalo and the Hakaniemi Hall. Together, they form the most charming part of Hakaniemi’s historic market milieu.
The Arena Stage has been home to fast-paced and entertaining performances by the Helsinki City Theatre since autumn 2010. In the repertoire, there have been comedy and musicals, both from Broadway and Finland, stand-up, domestic premieres and music-filled concert nights.
The theatre’s own restaurant, Teatteriravintola Foyer, is located in connection with the Arena stage. See the Catering page for more information.
It is easy to arrive at the Arena stage, and all the interesting restaurant and accommodation services in the Hakaniemi area are located just a stone’s throw from the Arena door.
In addition to the location, the Arena Stage’s advantage is its ideal size. The Arena stage can accommodate 500 spectators, and as an old cinema, the auditorium is made for atmospheric theatre performances.
Ticket sales are open on the Arena stage one hour before the performance. You can check the opening hours of the ticket office at the City Theatre here.
There is a free cloakroom on the Arena stage. The cloakrooms can be found on both the stalls and balcony levels.
